«Growing Momentum in Dermatology» was the motto of the 110th Annual Congress of the Swiss Society of Dermatology and Venerology (SSDV) which took place in Lausanne. We look back on three eventful days.

From September 6th to 8th, the Swiss Convention Center in Lausanne was the venue for the SSDV Congress 2023. Prof. Michel Gilliet and Prof. Curdin Conrad had put together a very rich scientific programme. Together with Prof. Daniel Hohl, President of the SSDV, they welcomed the participants in the auditorium of the impressive location. Three exciting days with an attractive clinical-scientific programme covering a broad spectrum of dermatology lay ahead. For Prof. Daniel Hohl it was the last congress as president of the SSDV. He passed the baton to his successor Dr. Michael Geiges, who  was elected new president at the general assembly.

Broad scientific programme

This year's congress attracted a total of 800 participants and hosted 60 exhibitors. Various types of lectures as well as numerous workshops and symposia were offered during the three days. Thirteen key speakers from abroad and from Switzerland were invited to the congress and delivered great and inspiring talks.

Social events

The President's Dinner was an opportunity to meet speaker and the guests of honour who were elected at the 2022 General Assembly. Anthony Oro, Martin Roecken and Sylvie Fraitag received their certificate of honour. The same evening, the Swiss Young Dermatologists SYD gathered at the famous Rolex Learning Center. It was an opportunity to welcome the many new SYD members and to get to know future colleagues in dermatology. Finally, on Thursday night almost 220 people attended the congress dinner at the Lausanne Palace and enjoyed an evening in great atmosphere and applauded the winners of poster prizes, award and grants.

Congress for nurses and MPA

Parallel to the SSDV congress the conference for nurses and MPAs offered a programme tailored to the needs of nursing professionals. The Scientific Committee put together a programme that attracted 40 participants from clinics from all over Switzerland. The congress was to occasion to launch the new network for nurses in dermatology.
